The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change. Digital Channels Reaction Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services. It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Updates Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18. User Accounts One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said. Manual Updates Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said. Platform Context The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
