One 60-day journey circling Australia has been cancelled days after the fatal incident of an senior female passenger who was left behind by the vessel on a remote tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been hiking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the excursion for a rest. The liner departed without her and came back after some time after the crew realised the passenger was unaccounted for.

A large-scale search operation found her body the next day.

Officials are looking into the incident, in coordination with law enforcement and the official investigator.

The CEO of the voyage organizer said that passengers and crew on the vessel were informed that the rest of the journey had been called off due to the "tragic passing and previous technical problems".

In a statement, he further stated that passengers would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the operator was working "to organize the homeward trips of the individuals via private aircraft".

Officials also released an revised communication, and said they had "provided a order to the Captain" banning any additional guests from boarding the liner.

The official said that they would visit the ship in the Australian city upon its return.

The vessel initially left Cairns on October 24th, and was just two days into the journey at the point of the senior passenger's passing. The tropical location was the first stop on the voyage.

The offspring of the victim said that her relatives was "shocked and saddened that the liner left the location after an organised outing without my mother".

In her statement, she described her mum as an "active 80-year-old" who was a member of a walking group.

"From the little details we have been informed, it seems that there was a failure of care and ordinary reasoning," she mentioned.

She further stated that she desired the investigation would be able to determine what "the operator should have undertaken that might have protected Her existence".

"Based on information from the investigators that it was a exceptionally warm period, and mother took sick on the uphill trek," she revealed.

The ship serves up to one hundred twenty guests with 46 personnel, according to company details. It was specially constructed to enter remote locations of Australia's shoreline and is fitted with "small boats" - minor craft used to take individuals on land visits.
