It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her bow and seven international trophies have come from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock topped that previous effort is debatable.

Many contend the argument supporting final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," said Healy.

"However when you take the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was removed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed plans to retire, this tournament is likely to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
